Here I am working for Greenpeace in wee New Zealand, and lo and behold the environment is slowly becoming the most important issue in my country. I am stoked, really am. But I have issues: I always have issues. The amount of people who come up to me on the street and tel me they think that Greenpeace are terrorist, too extreme or whatever other bullshit they've come up with is pretty frightening.
I was talking to another Canadian Greenpeace fundraiser here who has just arrived from Toronto, and she says it is worse there. The way fundraising works is you have a target you need to reach per pay period, for NZ is works out to about $45/day of monthly donations. In Toronto it's $16!!!! What a bunch of fucking cheapskates. Why? because everyone thinks Greenpeace is some militant extreme group. Meanwhile everyone thinks it's great Gordon Campbell or Stephen Harper is 'realizing' that climate change needs to be addressed. These fucking dudes have had their heads in the sands types for years. Don't get me wrong, I don't think environmental issues are partisan one way or the other: my parents are some of the most ecologically friendly people I know and they are fairly solid right of center. But these fucking morons pretend like the climate change issue was invented last year and now are gonna do something about. Well good, but I will go there: WE FUCKING TOLD YOU SO. Don't give me this 'Greenpeace is too extreme' nonsense. Fuck you listen to us more, then maybe instead of confronting problems, we can avoid them.
And Toronto, buck the fuck up, $16 a day is retarded.
and.....exhale. There, off my chest.
Go buy local.
Also:
What is it with nurses? Why are they so sexy? not the ugly old ones in the hospital, but the nursing students. They are so soft and nice and give amazing blowjobs. I met another one, well signed her up for greenpeace. She very hot, 18 and Irish (odd I know; her and BK make two in the world). And, though I don't know yet, I'd be willing to find out if my other suspicions are confirmed.

Welcome to the world of socially responsible trends. Have YOU had your head in the sand the last ten years? Remember when we stopped giving to everything else when the Tsunami hit? 'Member? Huh? Or when HIV suddenly became the most important problem and people ran around starting foundations named after themselves?
Global Warming is now as hot a Britney's shaved head. I saw a fucking Diesel Clothing add that's slogan read: "Global Warming Ready". What the fuck does that mean? Hop on the wagon! The Redskins are going to the Superbowl!
Kieran now that the fish as turned over a new leaf you appear to be taking up the mantle of resident slightly bitter contrarian.
The environment has always been a deal breaker for me, so go 'skins. (Favre anyone?!?! it could happen, Randell El and Santana Moss with the gunslinger in his twilight going all elway for one more; careful, careful...).
I was also the guy who made Tsunami-orphan-sex-tourism jokes waaaaaaay too early (still too early?) so I don't really pay attention to the trends, as witnessed by the fact that I don't own any diesel jeans.
blah
Save the whales, what ever happened to that?
The real message was undoubtedly lost amidst my rants....as it often is.
Please know that I wasn't questioning your long-history'd resolve to "save the environment"....I have felt the wrath when inadvertently throwing away a can of beans at Clark St.
I merely meant that the world should not embitter you now that they are jumping on the Green wagon...just as it shouldn't embitter you when they decide to jump off in a few years.
As as for taking up the role of a resident Fish, perhaps you are correct; but the world never ceases to amaze me with its stupidity - so i have enough to be pissed off about. And that is manifested in the countless commercials I see every day that only serve to confirm such a thought...and this time, it is the fault of the buffoons who eat up the marketer's bullshit.
